headaches and swishing noise in ears - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

i am an 18 year old female, and over a week ago i started to get these awful headaches. They are the worse when i first wake up, i have acutally been getting up around 5am now becuase i cant sleep once they come (i normally sleep till 11). About an hour after i take some axcedrin i feel a lot better for about 5 hours. Then the headache slowly comes back untill the morning when its the worse again(i cannot take a second dose of axcedrin bc i wont be able to sleep at night not that i can sleep that well anyways)

A couple days later i started to get this swishing noise in my right ear that goes to my heart beat. this Swishing noise is nonstop all day and all night and extremely annoying when tyring to sleep. Two days ago it went to my left ear and now it sounds like i have water swishing from one side of my head to the other.

My headaches are always in the front of my head above my eyes and there is no tenderness to touch any part of my head. i went to my doctor 3 days ago and he after listening to me for about 30 seconds said i have sinusitus (both of my parents alwyas get bad sinus infections) and i have been taking antibiotics now for 3 days, the only thing these antibiotics have been doing is making me nasuas and throwing up in hte morning. I still take axcedrin to make my headaches baruble during hte day and i cant get an appt with an ENT for 3 weeks!!! Dont know what i have or what to do, please help i am going to cut my head off pretty soon!

Hi! If you are having a reaction to the anti-biotics, call the doctor that prescribed them and inform him of such. That's important to do especially if you are reacting to the medication.

A good trick for nausea when on medication or having a headache is to put ice on the back of your neck while laying down. (You can make an icepack with a washcloth and a handtowel). This really is effective!

Over the counter medications can help with headaches but too many of them can cause what is known as a rebound headache. You might want to mention to the doctor when you call about the anti-biotics that you aren't getting any headache relief. Ask what he recommends.

Did these headaches just start recently due to the sinus problem? If so, once it resolves they should also! That's the good news!
