Migrain Auras? - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

I think I have posted before but I am really ready to lose my mind. Last August I started getting head and facial numbness. I have had this on and off since (sometimes it goes away for months). I have had MRI. MRA, MRA Carotid, EEG, BAER, EMG, CAT Scan,blood tests, EEG sleep deprived - all normal!!!! I am now experiencing extreme pressure on the left side of my head, both ears, pressure behind my head that makes my nose feel like it will explode and of course, the numbness. My neuro wants me to see a Headache specialist - has anyone ever had anything like this? I have tried neurontin - got sick, passed out from Lexapro. I am taking Migralieve and advil - I doubt that it is working. I really, really need help desperately. This has been going months and I am starting to feel like a hypocondriac -- Please, Please anyone help me!!!!

I don't know if this will help or not, but I sometimes get hemiplegic migraines or complicated migraines. Parts or all of my right side will go numb and then I will get a colossal migraine in the left temple. Sometimes I have to be hospitalized to break it up. Typically they are hormonally induced. They have gotten a lot better on topamax (a seizure med used as a migraine preventative), but a lot of people have trouble tolerating it even on B-complex and B-2 vitamins. I see a neurologist who is a migraine specialist. You can ask me whatever you want if you think these are the kinds of ha's you are having. Dana

Different things work for different people of course, but I have been on many perscription migraine meds and the thing that helps me the most is this combination:

Two Aleve taken witih a Coke (for the caffeine)
one aspirin
A dose of dimetapp or benedryl
Resting for about half an hour

I have to take it all before the actual headache hits or its too late, but it does work, at least for me.

Does the left side of your Face go numb...then get the headache on the rt. side?...that's how mine does...was terrified when it started doing this...is the main reason went to the doc....it scared me out of my mind...

Beta blocker InnoPran XL as a preventative & Frova to stop the pain...truely helps...
