I have been diagnosed with scholiosis and told that if I don't change my habits I will end up getting arthritis in my neck. The problem with my neck is that I hold in out too far... which caused scar tissue to develop because of the strange position I hold it in. I get constant headaches if I go untreated for an extended period and I get dull aches in the back of my neck.
My scoliosis has caused minor problems. It's given me bad posture and occasional lower back pain that comes and goes depending on what I'm doing. When I stand at work for long periods of time my lower back will throb. I've found that a heat pad works great for this though!
My orthopedist basically did nothing for me! He took the X-Rays and diagnosed then told me to go to physical therapy. Physical therapy was a joke because they disregarded the fact that I was in pain and didn't help to relieve the pain! They basically made me do uncomforable exercises.
I've found a great solution though! I have been going to a chiropractor for 2 years now and I wish I had gone earlier. The chiropractor adjusts my back whenever I have extreme pain and the joints are tight. He's really helped my neck too. He got rid of all the scar tissue and has me do light exercises to help build up the neck muscles and strengthen my overall posture. I never get headaches now because he does such a great job adjusting my neck.
Personally, I recommend going to a chiropractor. They're painless and covered by most insurance companies. I don't know what I'd do without my chiropractor!
