Newbie and hurting - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

Hello,

My name is Patty and I have been suffering from headaches for almost a year now. For the past couple of months my headaches have becoming worse everyday. For the past month or so, I've been having a very bad headache everyday. The pain is so bad. Sometimes it's just on one side only. I am very sensitive to lights, smells, and sound. I get dizzy and sick to my stomach alot. I even get the sweats. I went to see a Neurologist yesterday and gotten a EEG. He put me on Migrin and Limbitrol. I took them last night but all it did was make me sleepy. My headache was still there. I have one now. I think I'm going crazy. I have tried Imitex, Lithium and Depakote in the past and they didn't help. The doc told me that I am suffering from Cluster headaches. Does anyone have these kind of headaches? Anybody who is suffering from headaches, I understand how you feel, I really do.

I have cluster headaches, as well as epilepsy. (oh what a match

). They are awful! I've tried alot of medication and everything made it worse! I got an ulcer from headache medicine. Could you be anemic? My headaches get better when I take a multivitamin. Try to quit using all medications, it seemed to make my headaches worse with all those pills. Wear sunglasses year round, even with cloudy days. That helps your eyes. Halogen lights can make you have awful headaches too, if you use those.

I use aromatherapy to deal with my headaches. It works the best. Try lavender, jasmine, and vanilla essential oils. Just smell them and the headaches usually go away. Great thing about that is you can smell them all day long and it won't hurt you at all. Vanilla is especially good for headaches, although you might get hungry for cookies

You can use lavender bath stuff and that relaxes just the same if your not into oils.

You need earplugs fast

I wear them around the house, I can hear people talk to me closeup but I hear no distant noises. They are superb for when my 1 year old nephew visits, that kid is a screamer

The brand I use are Bulk Pack Hearos High NRR 32. They work like a champ

Hi Patty...good name LOL mine is patty also.
I too was DX with cluster headaches about 5 years ago. tried all kinds of meds with no help.
I was recently seen at the cleveland clinic and was told my headaches were not cluster...not even close and even if they were the treatment was all wrong. I was told my h/a were caused by arthritis in the neck. the neck has lost it's natural curve so it presses on the nerves which sends a message to the brain..hence the h/a.
I was sent for p.t. which has helped some but if I am not going all the time the h/a comes back. I have found a chiropractor that does low force so no cracking,etc. just massage and heat.
please, go for another opinion. I have lived with these h/a for about 15 years. It is not fun. It has affected my life in sooo many ways. I only wish I would have known this years ago.
Did they do an MRI ? if not find a Dr. who will do one that is how they DX my problem.

Have they done CAT scan, MRI ect.... Headaches are not really a disease they are usually caused by something, Even the meds you take may be causing REBOUND headaches and thats a horrible cycle to get into. Warning the Midirin gives me worse headaches. Do you feel stressed? So many Dr's put these headaches down as stress if they say its stress then what do they recomend you do for it?

Hey Patty. I'm sorry your in so much pain. I do suffer from Cluster Headaches. Your symptoms don't sound like them, but i'm no Dr. I use Oxygen and Imitrex injections to abort the CH. I used the imitrex spray, but that didn't work. Check out [url]www.clusterheadaches.com[/url]. They have some test that you can use to see if you might actually have CH and it's a great place to ask specific questions about it. I hope you are able to find some relief.
