Long hair and headaches

Hi. I'm new here, and looking for information on whether having long hair can cause headaches. Can anyone help?

Re: Long hair and headaches

I donít know what the professionals say but I know longer hair makes my headaches worse. When I get a perm in my hair I know the next day I will suffer with a terrible headache just from the weight of the curlers. BUT my headaches also stem from my neck. Any extra weight or strain on it will make mine much worse. (I think it also depends on the thickness of your hair)

Donít know if that helped or not but that is what happens with me.

You can also do a search on the internet by typing long hair headaches.

Good luck!

Re: Long hair and headaches

If you wear it up, the weight is going to pull on your scalp, which is (obviously) attached to your head. When I got to my 30s, I cut my long hair because I had young children and so always had it back/up, and my skin began losing its elasticity, so the effect of the weight on my scalp was worse, bringing on headaches. Now, wearing a hat tight enough to stay on in the wind also gives me headaches.
If your headaches are migraines, Imitrex is a prescription medication that stops them in their tracks without stopping you in yours. Hmmm...if they decide to use that for a tv ad, they better give me some royalties.
