Its been about 1 month since i started to get a tight band like feeling around my head. Went to doctor, took blood work-normal, ctscan-normal, and he gave me fioricet and nothing happened, motrin-nothing. Nothing seems to help Ive been for massages 3 times. Everyone tells me it was stress. I also lost 60lbs. Im wondering if the stress and the weight loss have anything to do with this. I had also been on the pill for 5 years and was having spotting for two weeks. I went to a chiropractor today and i hope that will help. Any ideas on what this could be. I just feels like someone is constantly squeezing my head.
Same here! My head feels exactly as you describe. In the past sinus med gave me relief but nothing is helping me this time. I live on a dirt road and I've noticed any bumps or just any jolt to my head makes it pound. I feel like I can feel my heart beat in my head everytime. Don't know how much longer I can stand this. Hope you find relief soon.
I also wear glasses. I dont think that has anything to do with it, but when i use my contacts its not so bad. I just dont know what to do anymore. I want this annoying thing to go away. anyone have any ideas
Well mine isn't as bad today as it has been. I've had alot of sinus drainage so maybe that helped. I have a doc appt. tomorrow gonna tell him what he is doing is not working. Are you feeling any better? Mine usually comes back in the afternoon, man I hope not.
I have been going through the same thing. NOthing was helping. I was put on indomethacin. Now my head feels squishy - meaning it is too stronge for me. I have been through so many tests & no relief. Please keep me informed if you all find anything.
I go to the Jefferson University Hospital Headache Clinic on Feb 14th - I just hope they find me some answers!!!!
Hey, hope you are feeling better. One thing to have checked out is a little know problem called Pseudo-Tumor Cerebri, also called Intercranial Hyptension. I had problem with headaches that I thought were sinus related, they always were on one side of my head, and at times it felt like there was a band wrapped around my head and I could hear my heart beating and all that other good stuff. What finally got me was having a problem with one eye and then being told that my optical nerves were hemorrhaging from the pressure. I do not mean to scare you, but it is a possibility that is only diagnosed after a CT or MRI show no other issues and they do a lumbar punture and check the pressure level of your spinal fluid. I am fortunate, mine is controlled by medication. It may be worth checking into, I was lucky, I had an Ophthalmologist who knew what he was seeing and sent me to my Primary Care Dr. who put in turn sent me to a Neurologist.
Good Luck.

Sounds like neuritis to me. Never listen to what other people say about what u might have. I am also having bad headaches and everyone is telling me how they have the same thing where I know that the headaches I have are way different they are like the ones u describe and I think it is either neuritis or vasculitis.
I had a ct scan and it was normal. I have actually been going to the chiropractor 4 times actually, and dont know if i should continue going. could the fact that i lost 60 lbs have anything to do with it or the bcp,
Lisa-Congrats on your weight loss - wouldn't that suck if it had anything to do with it, but I doubt it highly. The Birth Control Pills could have something to do with it, if possible, talk to your Dr. about going off of them at the end of a cycle and see if that makes a difference. I would also check into having your spinal pressure measured. If your doctor agrees, have it done under a floroscope and plan on taking it easy a couple days afterwards. -eko

I went back to my primary care of wednesday and he put me on pamelor. Ive only been on it for two days and i dont feel anything yet. I stopped taking fioricet because i was having a hard time sleeping. I went to the eye doc yesterday and he said i have a stress/tension headache and it has nothing to do with my eyes. So i ruled out new glasses. My primary care also took more bloodwork to check my thyroid i guess. One thing I have noticed is when i take a bath/shower i feel better for a while especially with towel around my head and if I pull my hair back it feels better to. I also noticed the other day that I have alot of pimple of my head. Someone told me it could be stress related too. Im all messed up
I went through all the same things you have mentioned and I did not get any relief until I changed my diet. There are so foods that cause headaches. Read my post about the book that healed my headaches. It is an amazing book and believe me it works!
I lost almost 60 lbs on weightwatchers from august 04-05 and maintained it until now. Im thinking my weight should go a little higher. Im like 145 5'6'. I also noticed since i started getting these headaches i see blue veins on my forehead. Doc says its from weight loss and head pressure.
I was just remembering that my doc asked me if anything had bit me. Back in October i went to the doc because i had a few red blotches on my back which was not normal. He said it was eczema. I was just thinking. Could these symptoms be lyme disease. Would my blood test show this.
I had had something that upset my stomach that week too. I am having such a bad day today. I feel like im wearing a tight helmet. I dont have a headache its just that tightness, like my brain is going to pop out of my head. I just took a fioricet. I didnt want to but I did. I also started my period today. Maybe thats why its number i dont know. Do you think i should see a neurologist?
Everyone tells me it was stress. I also lost 60lbs. Im wondering if the stress and the weight loss have anything to do with this.
Lisa from reading this thread......yes.
Stress can cause what you are describing including tension headaches & rashes.
Something going on in your life?
Your job?
Or are you simply a worry wart? Zoloft can cure that.
Whatever it is, you need to eliminate and/or take care of it.

Only you can decide to make that decision. However, if you take that step, I strongly suggest that you try to find one that specializes in headaches/migraines because there are different types of Neurologists.
They are usually found at Headache Clinics. Check your local phone book, your doctor and/or your local hospital Neurology Dept for recommendations.
Thank you. Yesterday I massaged my own head for an hour. Later on and today my head is sore. It probably is tension. I havent been sleeping much either but i think that had to do with the fioricet, because i never had this problem before i starting taking it. Now my doc gave me pamelor and ambien
