Question about Doc - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

I have been referred to a Neuro Doc that is the same practice that is in the same practice that a Doc that refused to treat me because I was getting double scripts of pain meds. They were for different things and I honestly didn't think I was doing anything wrong. They were different strengths and for different things but apparently the RX alerted my docs about the double scripts so now no docs are writing my pain meds that I desperately need accept my PCP who does not know the whole story. I am no longer getting double scripts, one persone is controlling it and I honestly prefer it that way. My question to you all is do you think I should go to a different doc in a different practice. I'm afraid this new doc will have a preconceived notion of me and that I am drug seeking when all I am doing is seeking answers to the problem. This new doc has come Highly recommended by 3 ER docs. But, I work at ACEP (american college for emergency physicians) and we have a RN who works with local neuro's who could refer me to a good neuro close by and I could avoid all the probs with the Doc in the other practice. I'm really scared to go to the recommended doc because of the preconceived notions and he might not treat me properly and as a whole patient. And I will probably need narcotics because I am allergic to the Family of Imitrex drugs, Ergot drugs do not help either. The only thing that works most of the time is Vicoprofen..

There are different types of Neurologist with their own specialties.
Each doctor that you go to no matter their specialty must know all the medications that you are taking to avoid double prescriptions &/or prescribing meds that may conflict with whatever meds you may already be taking.

Sometimes the pharmacy catches the above & notifies you & all the prescribing physicians.

This is to protect you from becoming over medicated & in some cases can cause death.

That is very doubtful. Just tell the truth. Tell the doctor all the medications you are taking & most of all tell the doctor all the symtoms you are having.
