Had CT scan-all ok-still have headache??

Had a whopper headache Saturday and went to the ER. They did a CT there then a spinal tap where they got some blood in the fluid. Not sure if it was trama during the tap that got the fluid - or actual blood in the fluid, they sent me to Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.
Sunday morning had another CT with a dye this time - negative. I waited all day in ICU thinking the neurologist they were sending to me Monday would just talk to me and send me home. Well, he ordered a cranial angiography which thank God came back negative.
So, I come home Monday night.

Problem is - I am still having a constant headache. The best I can describe is you know how you feel when you haven't eaten? That sharp throb in your head? Well, intensify it and make it last 24/7.

I used to have migraines during my periods, but they went away after my 1st son was born - 13 years ago - so I know what a migraine feels like.

I have no other symptoms - no sensitivity to light, nausea, nothing. It is hard to move my head around, coughing or sneezing just rip pain thru my head and I am moving pretty gingerly. I am able to function to a degree as long as I don't have to move too fast or bend down - that sends horrible spikes of pain too.

I went to the clinic where my doc is (he can't see me til next Wednesday) and the same day doc was at a loss. Actually I'm kinda peeved at him for his attitude - I got - 'you've been to 2 hospitals and multiple CT's and now you are just at a lowly clinic'. He gave me a pain killer/muscle relaxer and told me he didn't think it had anything to do with a pinched nerve.

I also have a call into the docs at Swedish - the discharge paperwork said to call them if I have a headache that won't go away with OTC meds - which it doesn't.

So, I'm curious - is there anyone out there that has suggestions on what to look for to the cause of this?

Thank you!
Traci

Re: Had CT scan-all ok-still have headache??

Hello

Is it a "brain freeze" type feeling? is it all over the head or is it on one spot?

i get these all the time and now we are looking at them being caused by TMJ. i have had several headaches start by bending over. but from what i know about that is pressure causes a headache from bending over. have you had a sinus infection recently? or allergys?

no OTC painkillers help me anymore. im on Topamax now for mine and so far so good but a heating pad did wonders for me. whenever i would have a full blown migrain i would lay the heating pad on that side and within a few minutes it was gone! i have had these for many years and i wish i would of used the heating pad a long time ago. try that it may help you. if not maybe check into possible TMJ. do you have trouble with you jaw at all?
