14 yo son sharp headache and numbness - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

Hi my 14 yo son has had two episodes of a sudden sharp headache where he also experienced numbness in his left - arm, cheek, and tongue. That was the first. The second time it was a sudden sharp headache with numbness in his right arm from his elbow down. Both times he was playing baseball and it was hot and humid. Doc said to go for MRI which I am going to schedule tomorrow. He also had an enlarged lymph node in his neck about two months ago which the doc gave him antibiotics for. That made the puffiness go down, but I could still feel the node. At last visit a few days ago, doc said node was benign and the headaches weren't related. Yesterday afternoon when putting sun screen on the back of his neck, the right side (where the swollen lymph node was) was bigger and harder than the left side. I'll let you know how the MRI goes. I hope it looks at his neck as well as his head. I'm going to call the doc tomorrow and find out. take care everyone.

Tomorrow he is having an MRI of the head and neck. Need to allay fears and find out what is in his neck.

Son's MRI was normal. Nurse called and said MRI was normal okay? I said wait a minute, what caused this to happen? Does the doc want to do any bloodwork? What about the lump in his neck? She says, I wrote that all down and will give him the note and have him call you. well, thank you.

Just wanted to let you all know that my son's MRI of the head and neck was normal. Thinking now it may be migraines. Doc said to go to a neurologist. We'll see if it happens again and then decide. He has been fine since the second episode.
