Swollen eyes - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

I have had chronic migraines for years. I have managed to be able to function with them 80% or so of the time. I don't get an aura usually and have bad nausea about half of the time.

This morning I woke up feeling like I was going to pass out from the pain. I didn't look in the mirror, but while I was bathing, felt my eyes and they were so puffy. They almost looked swollen shut. I have never had this happen before with any other migraine. Anyone else experience this? The pain has eased over the course of the day, but the headache is still there. My eyes are still about half as swollen as they were this morning. I have been sick for a couple of weeks, but I am now at the tail end of that, so I didn't think it was related to that. I almost went to the ER, but hubby had to work and I have a 9 month old that had to be cared for.

Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like an allergic reaction.

Did you take any medication for the migraine or for any other medical problem?

What did you eat prior to the swelling?

I was asleep and did not eat anything overnight.

I took my Requip for my restless leg and 800mg of Ibuprofen. I do this often before bed since I wake up most mornings with a headache, whether it is a migraine or not. I haven't taken conventional migraine meds since more than a year before I got pregnant b/c of the fertility treatment. I didn't do anything different that I recall. I feel like I slept okay. I don't take any other meds. I don't know, weird. I still have the headache today, but it is better than yesterday. My eyes are still slightly swollen, but much better. Thanks for the input.
