Hi All

This is my first post, really on behalf of someone else so thank you in advance to anyone that can help.

About 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend started complaining of headaches, something he has never really suffered from before. Over about a week, they became steadily worse, leading to disrupted sleep and generally feeling "spaced out." He was making mistakes at work and could not remember why or when he made them. He wears glasses so went to the opticians and they changed his prescription.

Unfortunately, this didn't help and the headaches became even worse and his vision blurred. They then become combined with feeling nauseaous and exhaustion. Last Wednesday, he was admitted to hospital after seeing a GP. They ran blood tests, looked into his eyes and confirmed the blurred vision. They tested for meningitis but as he does not have the "rash" they said that this cannot be the case. A CT scan was conducted of the brain but this too came back negative and he was discharged with 500mg paracetomol tablets and told to come back in 4 weeks to see a consultant. The last few days have been up and down but today, it's got really bad again. Bright light and noise makes him irritable and he is again, spaced out. He just called me to say he put his laptop on to do some work and it made him feel really sick. Today, walking about town, he quickly became exhausted.

He has briefly experienced muscular aches and pains and a tingling sensation in his hand.

The headaches started over the eye but are now in the sides of the head and back. They are "crushing" types of pain. Last night, he pinpointed a spot on his spine that was agonising pain to touch and today, an area on the side of the head that was also very painful.

His blood pressure when admitted to hospital was 177 but this returned to 124 within a couple of hours - probably the stress of the experience.

The pain comes back severely when he bends over to say, pick something up, so I have told him to bend at the knees instead.

Please offer any suggestions. I am at my wits end with worry and he's such a happy go-lucky guy that I think he must be in a lot of pain to be so down as he is now.

I've been a bit stupid and surfed the net for diagnosis - fatal because all I can see is "brain tumour." He is going to the doctor first thing tomorrow.
