Hi There!
I wrote a bunch on the "tension headache" thread, so whatever i don't cover here will be in there.
If the pain is based right over your eye (usually in brow - in corner part by nose) then that sounds like a migraine. It is a throbbing, piercing pain that can make you nauseaous. It also could be sinus, but if it is a sharp, throbbing pain than it is probably migraine. If it is sinus then u should feel fullness in your face or upper cheeks/eyes. Sometimes if it's sinus, it can be focused in on one side more than the other.
But if u don't have allergies and nothing is blooming big time where u live, than it's most definitely a mig.
This is what i take when i get them & it works wonders:
(2) Advil
(2) Excedrin
Either pepto-bismol or tums for nausea.
If the pain is that bad, than this should help. It is called a "Headache Cocktail" by drs. And No, it is not too much meds. to take at once. Unless u are on prescribed meds. and want to check w/that dr. to make sure its ok, than i don't see any issues in taking it. I am on 2 other different meds. and i have no issues w/taking them.
Also, lay down in dark room (very necessary) and put a cold pack on your head. You should feel better within an hour.
Good Luck!
