Question Headache or something more serious?

for about 3-4 days now ive been getting this bruised feeling in the top right hand side of my head, i thought if its actually bruised it would only take a couple of days to get better.

i can still feel it a little even though im not touching it

I havent been hit by anyone, i know i may have hit it a little harder than usual by accident sunday when i woke up to rub my eye.

Anyone have any ideas what it is? if it aint a headache then im not sure, its annoying though to say the least.

its completely on the right side only, around and just a little bit above the eye socket, its not severe pain.. but i can feel it there.

Could it be eye strain?, or should i just go to a doctor and have it checked out?

I usually worry about things that im not sure about, so if anyone has an answer i'd be grateful.

Thanks,
james.

Re: Headache or something more serious?

Hi James, I get the same thing, have had it for years, usually on the right sife, but recently it has started to move around. I have had MRI's and they came back normal. Neurologist and normal doc's just don't know what it is, so I just take a lot of ibuprofen, one 800 mg usually does the trick, at least for a while. I end up taking lots of 800 mg, but no more than 2 hours in between and no more than 5 in a day, and always take with a glass of milk as it can rip up your stomach. Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but maybe the ibuprofen will help.

Sunny

Thanks for your answer sunny

its still there, i did take 2 neurofen capsules yesterday and it didnt really seem to do alot if anything, i think i have some ibuprofen so ill give them a go.

I do wear glasses and ive noticed things in the distance have started getting a tiny bit blurry, when i first had my eyes tested and got glasses the same day everything was crystal clear for a long time.. its only the past year or so ive noticed they seem to be getting a bit worse. Whether thats partly the problem im not sure of, so eyestrain could (at a guess) be part of the problem. I'm sitting in front of a 22" monitor and without my glasses on this writing is extremely blurry and can only just read it, im only about 3 feet away from it

let me know if you also have bad eye sight, id be interested to know.

thanks again.

Hi again James, I hope you are doing better today.......I worked on Computers for years, originally I did not have bad eyesight, but it kept getting worse, of course age does play a role, but the computer, I used to sit in front of it sometimes 16 hours a day, lots of overtime. My eyesight got worse and worse until I had to wear glasses not only for reading and working, but for everything, it also made my headaches worse, no one is going to say the computer did it, but it did, I know it did. So be careful how long you sit at your computer, I am not saying it causes your problem, but it does cause problems, if you work at a computer, take lots of little breaks. (I didn't/couldn't)

take care,
Sunny

Re: Headache or something more serious?

perhaps you might have to get an update on your lenses. headaches in this area you are describing is a classic symptom of needing glasses. you should get checked and adjusted every year. your eyes will get worse with age, and if you wear glasses and the prescription is not strong enough you will strain your eyes more. in that case, more damage will be caused.
