Continuing Headache... - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

Hey I am new to this site, though I thought I would try and post a thread to see if anyone has any suggestions or has been in the same boat as I.

About 5 months ago I started getting what I think were bad sinus headaches, a lot of pressure in the front of my head, and my neck and shoulders were sore. Though my headaches seem to get worse, especially I have noticed since yesterday. My headaches tend to be worse in the morning time, and gradually get better though out the day, they come back here and there, which in result i take advil or excedrin. or Benadryl for sinus release. As well i get have had a runny nose, and what feels like chest congestion for a month or a bit more.

Though since yesterday afternoon I started getting nausea, and I have had a constant head ache with much pressure, and neck & shoulder pain. I have always had some troubles with my stomach, lately it has taken me a few days before i can go to the bathroom. Yesterday I took as much as i was able to, and the headache is still here... a lot of pressure. I have a book that suggest different natural ways to heal, as in foot baths, putting eucyliptic and lavendar oil on your forehead temples, a walk... but i still having this head ache. I have been reading up on different types of head aches, not sure if it is a tension or rebound headache... At times when walking up the stairs i feel a more throbbing sensation in my head. I am not sure how to get rid of this headache, w/o taking any more advil or what not.

Any one have any ideas?

One more thing .. When i was 17 i was turning the shower off, all of a sudden i felt dizzy, and i lost my vision, my hearing was muted,it lasted for about 3 minutes or 4. Anyone think that could relate to present head aches?

See your doctor for a diagnosis

A cortisone bases nasal spray used every day would be a good idea, over a few days they will reduce the congestion and inflamation of the nose that causes sinus preasure and pain. For imidiate relief, a dose of Advil Sinus (ibuprofen/psuedoephedrine, 2 tabs with water), followed by inhaling boiling water from a bowl with a towel over your head. Add a 1ml of eucyliptus oil to the water to encourage drainage of the sinuses.

If the above doesnt help, ask your doctor for a referal to a specialist (ENT or Nuero, or both)

Sounds like classic migraine! Go see a neurologist and get ready to try an abundance of migraine meds to try to find the right one for you (there are at least 100).

I am in the same boat - I think mine are caused by perimenopause (I'm 40) which causes the fluctuation of estrogen and progesterone, which then causes migraine. I MAY start taking FROVA, a medication that focuses specifically on menstrual migraines (which can occur at various times of the month).

I have been in perimenopause for years and years and years+ and I pray for menopause. The past 6 months or so I have had bad heaches during my so-called period. I have never had a hot flash, but this is really getting old.

BTW, alot of caffeine seems to help (coffe and chocolate!

Yep - it DEFINITELY sounds like you have hormone migraines. Ugggg - I'm in the same boat. You can either try hormone therapy (bioidentical is best in my opinion) to even out your hormones, or try some migraine meds. Sometimes my headaches last for weeks. I am so tired of it. I haven't taken any migraine medication yet because of all of the side effects.

The caffiene helps because it constricts your blood vessels and gives you temporary relief. That is why Excedirin has caffiene in it. The problem is that it causes rebound. The best thing to do is to avoid ALL migraine triggers and see if that helps your headache frequency.
