i have had a headache for 1-1/2 yrs. neck pain and entire head pain. 24/7 they tell me they are cervical headaches and that onky 4 percent of people get these types of headaches. even had steroid injection into the neck c1-2,c2-3 and the joints. no relief. i am in thomas jefferson headache center down in phila for the third time. lidocaine drip,depacon drip. even tried dhe-45 drip. still on lidocaine drip since tuesday oct 16th. this is the second time i have had this in the hospital. also started topamax. been on lyrica,mexilitin,gabapentin,thorizine,no rtriptyline,zanaflex and more. anyome out there like me

wow, i'm glad i noticed your post. sorry you are having such a bad time.

i too have cervical migraines. i've had them since i was a very little child. i've also had allot of problems with my neck (cervical spine) my entire life. i was diagnosed with cervical migraines over 10 years ago after an MRI showed allot of disc problems in my neck. also the traditional migraine treatments did nothing for me.

after i had a baby, my migraines increased with frequency and duration. omg, i was getting them once a week and they would last up to 72 hours! i saw tons of doctors, was on tons of meds, was in the hospital several times for abortive treatments. my life was miserable.

about 7 years ago, i saw an ad in our local newspaper about a goverment funded study for migraine sufferrers. i signed up for botox injections done every three months over a one year time period. after that year, i never had get abortive treatment for a migraine ever again. i still got them maybe 4 times a year and they only lasted a few hours.

botox injections in my forehead was a miracle for me. i have no idea why it worked but it did. i guess the botox freezes the muscles so they don't spasm. in my case i think the botox stopped the vicious migraine/pain cycle i was on.

best of luck to you. don't ever give up! don't ever stop looking for a cure. i felt like you do at one time. i felt i couldn't go on like i was.

You didn't mention your age, but I would wonder if it could be related to menopuase...it's worth looking at I had many of the same problems during peri. Ice to the back of the neck seemed to help. The worst of that is past thank goodness. Now, occasionally I wake up to these headaches, and once I'm up and moving around they go away. I am now 53, but this goes back more than 10 years.
