Neck tightness and Lightheaded - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

For about 9 months I have the problem where my neck and shoulder area becomes very tight. Then I get headaches, sinus pressure and lightheaded spells. I have been to the ENT and everything looks good there. Also had a complete physical, all came back normal. I feel better with exercise and movement. It gets worse if I sit a lot or am on the computer an extended period of time. I do have an issue with managing anxiety. I'm wondering if that is what is causing these problems.

Hi,
I have had this problem since I was a child. I have severe tension headaches. I get tighness and pain in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. The pain is really bad at the base of the skull and then it spreads to the sides of my head and eventually around to the front. The only thing that helps me at all is the heating pad. I am bipolar and I definatley have issues with anxiety. I also have TMJ which causes these headaches. Someone else on this board told me about myofascial syndrome. I went to the dr. asking about this and low and behold I was diagnosed. I understand how terrible these headaches can be. I hope you find relief soon!

I have been having the same problem with tension headaches myself. If you find out anything, please, post again....I'm about to go nuts, but they say there is nothing wrong!

Went to the chiropractor 10 days ago. He said I definitely was having tension headaches. He did an adjustment, muscle stimulation, and gave me neck exercises to do. I've been doing them every day and my tension headaches are basically gone. Hope this helps!

Have you guys heard of vestibular migraine or migraine associated vertigo? Your symtoms sound like maybe they could have something to do with this... Also migraine and anxiety are often connected. Im not a doctor but something to look into. Hope this helps.
