? epilepsy ? migraine - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

Hi,
My little boy is 5 years old and has "autistic enterocolitis" as described by Dr Andrew Wakefield in the U.K.
He has been investigated for epilepsy in the past because of "blank episodes", clumsiness and because he sometimes falls down for no apparent reason.
He has had a 24 hour EEG which showed nothing.
Over the past few weeks he has had 2 worrying episodes. On both occasions he has been crying and complaining of head pain which has made him hit his head ( v unusual because he has a very high pain threshold and doesn't always register pain).
He has then been violently sick, but within minutes of vomiting has gone straight into very long, deep sleeps.
Do children usually sleep this suddenly and deeply following migraines?

I cannot say for certain whether this is normal or not but for me after getting sick from the migraine then and only then did I feel I could finally take some pain medication without it causing me to vomit and I could then finally fall asleep and get some rest and get rid of 90% of the pain. Why not call the doctor that manages his neurologic problems and report these episodes in case they would want to see him in the office or try some medications etc.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy 2 years ago. Before that, I have had episodes of dazing out and bad headaches. Later, I had a grand mal seizure and was taken to the hospital. The neuro there diagnosed it as a stroke, but I still had headaches and I didn't believe his diagnosis. I went to another neuro who listened to me and diagnosed me with epilepsy. I'll admit it took almost a year to get my meds right. However, I feel good and I don't have the headaches. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. I'll remember your son and you in my prayers.

Also, before I forget, EEGs may not show any activity even if epilepsy is present.

Thank you both for your help. I will have further investigations carried out to try and find out what is going on.
Because of the autism, my son cannot properly articulate how he is feeling, and i guess could be having other symptoms I don't know about.
