Excederin and excederin Migraine all contain caffiene. Alleve does not contain caffiene and is a brand of the anti-inflammatory Naproxen sodium. It is most commonly used for relief of arthritis pain. If you stomach is sensitive to aspirin I would try the aleve with caution as this may also upset your stomach. The key to mimimizing what is commonly know as "aspirin stomach upset" is to take the medication with food. These anti-inflammatory medications (aspirin, Iburprofen, and Naproxen) are all hard on the stomach and tend to eat away at the stomach lining if used for long periods of time. Since you are using them intermittently I don't see this as a concern for you. If these over the counter medications don't seem to totally do the trick for your monthly migraines why not see your doctor for something specifically made for migraines. The other thing that you can do if one of the over the counter meds partially works for you is to call your doctor or if you have a close friend who is a nurse and ask the docs nurse or a friend what the prescription level of these over the counter pain meds is and use that many tablets. I would personally recommend checking with your doc first though before you try this.
