Hi! This is my first post to this site. I have had migraine headaches (complete with auras, nausea, and photophobia) since I was 16. I am now over 40. I had a headache each day (not necessarily a migraine, but if I left it unchecked they would grow into a migraine). During this time, I've tried everything to get over the headaches, from Midrin to opiates (which scientifically have been proven not to work with migraines) with little or no improvement. I finally went to a Plastic Surgeon. He injected BoTox into my forhead (since my headaches were focal) and imagine my relief when one week later, I noticed that I didn't have a headache. It's been wonderful. Unfortunately, the relief only last about 3 months. I will be going back for a second round next Monday. I am hoping that this time, they will be gone longer. The only side effect from this procedure was that I can't raise my eyebrows (I can now, but while I had no headaches, I couldn't). All the lines in my forehead disappeared also. I just thought I'd share this miracle cure with everyone. The only other medicine that ever worked on me was Maxalt-MLT. Imitrex didn't do much.

I have also had the Botox injections done. I had my first series done, with no results, unfortunately. Since having them done, I have had more problems with body aches and pains. I don't know if this is caused from the Botox injections or not, but my neurologist said that it was possible. I have decided not to go back for any more sessions.

I was told by my neurologist, who has the most experience of anyone in the U.S. doing these injections for headaches, that the second time was more successful than the first, and the third more successful than the second, and also the effects last longer w/ each session. The injections have about a 90% success rate, with a lot of patients being able to come off of meds completely. Unfortunately, they are pretty expensive to have done, and some insurance companies won't cover the charge. The injections that I had done were in my forehead, down my neck, into my shoulders, and then down my back. As I said above, it didn't seem to do anything for me, but of course I have a high tolerance for meds, so that has been my major problem. Just wanted to add a little more info to what had been given. If these injections work for you, then it sounds like a wonder drug. I know that is what I was hoping for.

Thanks for the reply. I had another set done a couple of weeks ago, but I've had a couple of migraines since then (last Saturday was a bear). But...now they seem to be lessening. Hopefully, this will help. I only had the injections in my forehead and around my temples.

I hope yours get better and better.
