I am having a problem that when I stand up I am getting very painful head rushes. The pain is located in the center of my forehead. I have been getting these head rushes for about a year now. Sometimes the pain is blinding. It doesn't happen always - usually in the afternoons during the week while I am at work, but they do happen almost daily.

I went to a neurologist this morning and he told me that he had no idea what was wrong with me, and he almost never sees anyone with this problem. I suffer from migraines as well, and thought these head rushes might be a side effect from Imitrex (changes in vascular make-up), but he said no. He also said I might just be out of luck with this problem, basing this on the fact that head rushes are due to changes in blood pressure and that we don't deal with these changes as well as we get older. (I am 30.)

My father is currently undergoing treatment for a malignant brain tumor, but the doctor said that brain tumors are almost always not heriditary. I don't think this has anything to do with my problems.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I am now going for an MRI, and the neurologist wants to put me on some daily medication for migraine prevention as opposed to the Imitrex. I also need to exercise more, which tends to make my head feel better in general.

I read a post on a message board from 2000, with a woman who was suffering from something similar. She started taking Fastin (which is in Sudafed) and said it made her feel a lot better. She also suffered from migraines and Arnold-Chiari malfomation. However, after she got her ACM operated on, she still had these head rushes which only got better after taking Fastin.

Any ideas/help would be unbelievably appreciated.
