11 year old on Topamax - Headaches & Migraines Message Board

I have a 11 year old daughter that is on Topamax for migranes and is on Inderal LA for high bp.Shes been on the Inderal for about 7 months and on the Topmax for about 2 months but since she started the Topamax she isnt herself like she is fussy ,she crys alot she worries about things most kids wouldnt worry about and shes also has pain in her arms and legs.Could this be from the med. or something else? Can any1 help me out here?Thanks alot karen

With these side effects you need to update her doc and let him decide what to do. Pain in the arms should not be ignored so call the doc and let him know what is going on. I assume the doc that prescribed the topamax knows that she is also on the inderal since many drugs can interact with the other.

Karen,

Topamax has created tingly feelings in my fingers (which some people experience in more extremities). I have been told by my neuro that this is normal and my body will acclimate to the Topa and it will subside. Pain I can't comment on -- you should ask the prescribing doctor.

I just posted about Topa and crying. I'm waiting to hear back from my neuro about it. It's been a problem for about a week for me, however, it's starting to subside. I'll try to post back with what he says.

yes the same doc is the 1 that put her on both Inderal and Topamax.the pain she is having is in the elbow part of her arms.thanks

Karen,

When you say shes "fuzzy", is it kind of like shes off in her own little world? In and out of it, kind of? If so, thats what I get like when Im on the Topa. Its like... a good word for it would be... inattentive I suppose? Id bring that up with the doctor, but mine said that was a side effect and that it it should resolved itself after a while.
