how to wean off fioricet

I am taking 2-3 Fioricet daily for tension headaches. I would like to stop, or reduce to occational use. How do I withdraw slowly and what can I expect other than rebound headaches.

Does anyone get a very dry mouth from Fioricet?

Thanks in advance

Re: how to wean off fioricet

Switch to Aleave three times a day, to cover the withdrawl headaches. it is naproxen, a long acting painkiller/antiinflamatory that isnt associated with rebound headaches. take it for 10 days or so.

Buy some Percogesic (acetaminophen with an antihihistamine sedative) to take if the headaches get realy bad.

You might feel a bit jittery, as fioriacet contains a barbiturate.... however, 2 or 3 a day is a low dose, shouldnt cause dependence. If you do feel jittery, take Percogesic for a couple of days, that will help your body adjust to not having the barbiturate in your system.

See a physiotherapist, they can be abig help in recuring tension headaches.
