I take preventive medication, then when I get one I take take my onset medication. Preventive medication is for daily use. Another thing I did and am doing is I do a journal...anything and everything I ate, drank and activities I did that day that I got a migraine. I've so far discovered pollen, too much soda pop, too much stress, my neck being out of line (it likes to dislocate), chocolate, and some fruits are triggers (what starts the initial migraine). Perhaps making an appointment with your doctor is in order to get a better handle on things.
