I have headaches called "hemicrania continua." They feel like what you describe and are constant, for weeks at a time usually. You can google it to find out more.
I also have Giant Cell Arteritis (Not
arthritis). For this, my whole head felt like it would burst. This is a very severe condition and a symptom is in the jaw (you might not be able to chew). GCA - also called Temporal Arteritis - can cause permanent visual impairment or blindness. Your SED rate would be elevated and also your C-Reactive Protein (both shown in blood tests). Fortunately there is a fix for GCA if you identify it early enough. Sometimes a biopsy of the temporal artery is needed.
A neurologist or rheumatologist can help sort things out with you. Don't wait in pain! Good luck!
