Chronic Migraine, Sharp Head Pain followed by Dizziness
I am a teen. I have had migraine headaches since I was 10. During these migraines there is a strong throbbing sensation (usually on one specific side of my head) accompanied by blurred vision and sometimes decreased hearing volume. A few times I have also had migraines which have caused me to faint. On average I will receive between 1 to 3 major migraines a day, however small 50 second headaches occur commonly as well.
Most recently I had a migraine which was accompanied by a bloody nose, which hasn't happened since the headaches started at age 10. Now -the day after the bloody nose headache- I have had episodes of sharp pain (it feels like someone is stabbing me in the head, different from the usual dull throbbing, and blurred vision of the normal headaches) usually lasting between 12 to 3 minutes. The sensation is always located on the right top, near the side part of my head. Following these episodes is a dizzy spell which usually lasts 5 minutes. These pains are not accompanied by blurred vision or hearing problems, dizziness only follows after the pain stops, not during the episode itself.
I have been prescribed Propranalol for my headache, however I am very inconsistent with dosage. It seems to be overall completely ineffective.
Any input on my situation would be greatly appreciated.
Ps. I do not smoke, use drugs or drink alcohol, I however do live in a consistently extremely smoky house, perhaps this effects/causes these headaches.
