One more thing about antidepressant meds for pain...it takes a while for it to work..heh
I would wake up...with a headache..with a smile..go figure? It may take a couple weeks. Just sayn' because no one told me
I hope things get better for you soon. Keep posting
I have to admit.. antidepressants scare me.. im only 23 for god's sakes... What will happen when im older.. ahh
Yes, me as well, personally.
By the way i posted something before your posts.. that maybe you didnt see cus you were writing one as I posted mine.
Yup I read your posts good good
You do need some relief.
I went back to your very first post.
Are you going back to your neurologist? Are you on anything now? you really should be on some sort of daily preventative. I know you tried something back in August? That didn't work out.
Hmmm no im not on anything.. I tried elavil, its some sort of musce relaxer.. kinda strong if u ask me.. it got me soo tired i could barely wtach a movie. It had a small dose of valium in it. Must I say that on top of that I still got the headaches.. lol
I tried other antibiotics for my sinusitis... which wasnt a extremely strong one.
I also tried Anaprox for the headaches.. something a little stronger than advils but didnt seem to help either..
Anyways... somedays its better... when its so strong Im getting depressed but as soon as it gets slightly better... my mind and mood is alot more positive... like today..
Its kinda strange how it can change, on a different level of pain, in a matter of hours.. thats why I have to considerate the psychological part of them headaches.
Thanks for the posts again.. how is your stuff and situation going?
Im replying, now I am 24 years old, not 23, its been a year and a half. headaches have not changed, except maybe I living better since I changed jobs and now I dont work physically. Here is an update of my ****** situation.
It seemed to have started with a bad cold or sinusitis at the beginning of February 2011. Had headaches often (every week) before that, but not daily.
The pain level can go from 2-3, (usual daily headache), to about 6-7 where it’s a migraine and I can’t concentrate or do anything - can’t move my head at all.
Who I’ve seen so far:
- I have had a MRI in 2009, due to a swimming accident where I hit my head on the side of the pool, but nothing major showed up.
- I have had a CT scan of my head in April 2011 and nothing showed up either.
- I’ve seen a Sinus (ORL Specialist) and said that my headaches didn’t come from a sinus infection. I was prescribed various Antibiotics for sinus infection and didn’t seem to help either.
- I’ve seen a Neurologist and she prescribe me Elavil, which I took for a month and then stopped because it didn’t help the headaches, only made me sleepy all day and even more depressed.
- I’ve tried chiropractic care (for months with 2 different chiropractors)
- I’ve also tried Acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy and YOGA; nothing seemed to help. All seen numerous times, with different practitioners.
- I saw my Neurologist 3 times total, tried Flexeril after Elavil.. and then she suggested bottox. I said no. I’m not seeing her for a year at least now she so booked.
- I went back to my doctor a couple of times, and now I’m going to see a allergy specialist for tomatoes and eggs and more, and seeing another osteopath that treats TMJ.
Nothing seems to directly trigger my headaches so please take a look at my symptoms that I’ve summed up over the past year and more since February. I am fed up, sick and tired of this, I shouldn’t live like this at 23 years old. I used to exercise a lot and be active but can’t anymore. So please.
Symptoms: (7 months old, but updated in june 2012)
Headache everyday for a year and a half - No relief (I have maybe 1 completely headache-free day every 2 weeks)
Forehead headache sometimes, pain when touching forehead. (Winter allergy, now gone)
Headache can vary from the back, lower back, sides, temple, and back of the neck.
But it is mostly back of the head.
I sometimes wake up from sleep when headache is too strong.
Every morning I wake up with a headache. I clench (alot) my teeth at night, jaw cracking every day, mostly in morning and evening. Back (spine) is also cracking every day all through the day ever since I saw one particular chiropractor. It brings me relief when it cracks.
Dizziness when getting up after lying down. Also, wind sensation in my head. (Dizziness, heaviness)
Swollen Lymph Nodes (Armpits), it happened 7 to 8 times during the 7 months after February (Now gone)
Stiff neck I think... or just headache in the back of the head, im confused.
Fatigue!!! (less now)
Running eye sometimes (minor allergy probably)
Back pain (lower back), could be due to my work in the past.
Sometimes I get depressed when headache is too strong. (I guess that’s normal)
The headaches causes extra stress and I’ve had about 4-5 sleepless nights in the last 6 months. Now these symptoms are gone, not stressed anymore. I learned to live with it more. Since my new job is not physical.
Loss of appetite when headache is too strong
Sometimes headache is worse when bending down. (Pressure is worse)
Advils, Tylenols, Motrin does not seem to help at all. (Now they seem to work more)
Just today, I took advils and nothing worked. Today it is a migraine. Today I am depressed.
Im 24 and have/had identical symptoms. I've done identical tests as you. It is all related to your neck. You have forward head posture and it took me 9 months to rehab it to the point where I have minimal pain on a daily basis. Probably went from a 5 constant pain to a 1. Your neck looks like a right paranthesis ) right now. You need to make it like (
Kinda ridiculous analogy I know but doing stretches in effort to reform your neck to this shape will help, be patient and persistent, I know how miserable you are believe me. Let me know of you have any questions.
Hiya! So sorry to hear you're still having regular headaches.
I can totally relate. Topamax helped me. It takes a week or two to fully work and you have to increase gradually.
I went to physical therapy. It helped when they manually worked the muscle spasms out.
I also had a somewhat forward posture.
But, I told the therapist that I have always but I have never had such headaches.
Another thing that helped was sleeping on my back.
I did maintain the suggested exercises to strengthen my upper back muscles.
Even still, I could not stop the headaches.
The headaches gave me stress.
They made me unable to function.
I also got used to them but it was a constant struggle.

As I was going through different avenues to determine why I was getting headaches, I had an xray that showed my cervical spine was straight, no curve at all. It was realized that tension from muscle spasms were causing these headaches. But I still can't be sure.
I had a car accident a month and a half before I started getting daily headaches. I was also doing a great amount of driving. They suspect I may have had a cervical strain. It may have healed wrong. The knots of spasms were mostly on one side of my upper back and neck.
Also, these headaches seemed to have drove me crazy. I started to examine mental illnesses. I was not stressed or depressed before these headaches.
My dimwitted primary doctor at the time, seems to think I was stressed out and overwhelmed with life. I told her these headaches make it hard function. She concluded that my life was difficult??!! Ugh, I could not see her anymore.
I was having daily pain at least at a 6 everyday when I wake up until I went to sleep. I was only at peace sleeping. I told her I have a busy life and need to function. I told her I love my busy life and wouldn't want to change anything except the headaches. I exercised 6 days a week and watched my diet. I'm happily married for over 10 years with three kids. (14,11,8) The kids were not the problem, but the doctor was like.."Oh, I see why your stressed"
And I'm like "yeah these headaches make it hard to function...etc"
So, needless to say, long story short...I looked into the possibility that I have ADD. maybe I was always trying to do too much and it caught up to me?
So, I went to a shrink. I didn't want to stay on the Topamax. But if I tried to get off it, I would get a headache for three days. I tried Ritalin for a month and I was able to cut my Topamax dose in half and then almost was able to stop Topamax completely. Now, I have adderall and no Topamax at all!
And, most importantly, no headaches. The only time I get headaches now is when I sleep on my belly. I need to sleep on my sides or back only.
Weird.
