Question random sharp "zapping"

I have random sharp "zapping" warm pain back left of by head. Scares me! Don't know what it is but I have noticed it for about a month now and have never had any head injuries. I am a 38 year old healthy female..Asking my Dr about it tomorrow. Good to hear other people have had the same issue and I am not imagining it

Re: Localized sharp piercing pain in head lasting a few seconds

Same sharp stabbing pains...always same areas...on the left, backside of the head and right on the very top in the center. Treated with many different migraine meds and pain meds. CT scan came back all clear...but, two weeks later had an MRI showing Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (a blood clotting disorder in the brain). Guess where the blood clots are...left back side and the top. Actually it's not even "clots", the blood is completely coagulated on the left side (no blood flowing out, whatsoever) and partially on the center. Get an MRI or MRV! Good luck.

Please look up SUNCT and see if you have any of the additional symptoms....sometimes also refered to as icepick headaches, but this occurs in men more than women and is pretty rare.....goood luck

Re: Localized sharp piercing pain in head lasting a few seconds

I am experiencing the same problem, a sharp pain in the left-back of my head that lasts for seconds to maximum a minute.
It occurs randomly, but i don't recall that it happened to me twice a day, sometimes it happens after weeks, months, etc...
I had no accident or any injury in my head, or a trauma
when I went to a neurologist, he didn't know the cause of such a problem, he gave me magnesium pills assuming that i have deficiency in magnesium, but it didn't help
I am afraid that this will get worse later on
Ali

Re: random sharp "zapping"

Hey ladies! Canada bound girl here,
I just wanted to let you know that it is something i have dealt with for YEARS, mine is caused by a "Tumor" like swelling within the brain in the front by the forehead, it causes a sharp shooting pain and sometimes lingers,
Its because the brain is creating too much prolactin in the body causing some other symptoms.
Make sure you get an MRI to have it checked.
Thanks

Re: Localized sharp piercing pain in head lasting a few seconds

but if there is no blood flowing at the left region, why the pain "just" comes at sudden and randomly, plus it only lasts seconds !!!
if there is no blood flowing i guess there should be more SEVERE problems...
