nerve doctors

is it possible to have nerve damage in your chest? my husband got hurt at work he heard a popping and a tearing sound. workmans comp is trying to make him go back to work but his pain is so terrible there is no way he could work. What kind of doctor should we see and if we go to our own doctor after going to the work mans comp doctors for a year and half who will pay the workmans comp or will my insurance??

Re: nerve doctors

If the cause of the injury is work related you can only see the physician's that the WC company agrees to - seeing your own physician may mean you must pay the cost of the care. When your insurance company finds out it is work related they can deny the claims as he should be treated under WC. Depending on where the pain is will depend on what type of doctor to see. Chest pain can be "referred" pain - nerves that travel through there injured (for example, some people have had back or neck problems that manifest partly in chest pain). A neurologist may be a good place to start.

Re: nerve doctors

Thanks SpineAZ The judge at the workmans comp hearing is the one who said to find our own doctor that will say he is in too much pain to go to work. She is giving us 1 month to do this But I figured since she is the one to tell us to do this then they should pay??? This is so fustrating and no doctor seems to want to help the second you mention workmans comp. Thanks anyway.
