Provigil - $Co-pay Amount?

So, Provigil goes for $700 for 30 200mg pills. I have what is considered to be a generous federal employee insurance plan, and had a $150 co-pay for my first two pickups. Today, I went for refill number 2, and was told the co-pay was about $350. The pharmacist called the drug company, and was informed that this was current co-pay for pick-up 3, and would continue to rise with subsequent refills. Although I find it helpful, that's a bit difficult to swallow. I'm looking into what Nuvigil prescription co-pay will cost. When I originally looked/asked for coupons, there was nothing better than than this amount.

Just wondering - what are you repeat users paying for Provigil? Besides a total income-based petition of the the drug manufacturer, is there any particular pricing strategy I'm overlooking here? Thanks. D

I was told that Nuvigil is cheaper, but it still takes time to get your insurance company to approve it.

Re: Provigil - $Co-pay Amount?

I have been taken Nuvigil for 2 months now. My husband is also a federal employee and we have good insurance. From what I read that you wrote, it does not appear that Nuvigil is much different in price than Provigil. I about fell over when the pharmacist told me my co pay was $163 for a month supply! Wow!!!!! The pharmacist told me the medication cost about $700 a month and that the insurance already paid most of it. Very expensive, but I feel I need it or I will be in bed all day.

Just my experience

Re: Provigil - $Co-pay Amount?

Those two medications are often not well covered under any prescription plan except for very specific instances/diagnoses. I was given a sample of provigil but never tried it or filled it based on the price. My plan would only cover it if proof of diagnosis of narcolepsy. Otherwise it was not covered. I did check under Costco and other pharmacies but no good cost.
