Medical help and Insurance for bipolar daughter

My 27 year old daughter has had several health issues the past year and been unable to work. Now we have the diagnosis that she has Bipolar I. Her dad and I pay for a health insurance policy for her but it does not cover mental health or prescriptions. One prescription alone (which seems to help) is $1100.00 a month.

I firmly believe that if we can continue her therapies and manage her medications that she will be able to work but will need some extra time to get things adjusted.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to manage the medical costs? I called my insurance company today to see if they will let me carry her now that we have a diagnosis but I was only able to leave a message.

Some have recommended disability but we really do feel that she'll be able to work once she becomes more stable. She wants to work, but because of her doctor appointments and needs to be on more solid footing before jumping into stressful situations.

Any advice???
