Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

Im at the library and dont have the exact dates, but he applied for ssdi around May 2009. He got denied 3 times, then got an attorney. the award letter came yesterday 1-09-2012, but didnt say what the amount will be. We are confused. Maybe we need to read the thing again...

Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

Are you sure the letter you received was the approval letter or the award letter? The approval letter will not state the monthly amount but the award letter will. If it is the award letter and the amount is not mentioned, I would contact SS and ask them.

You are talking about SSDI correct, not SSI?

Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

Thats great news Does he know how much he is getting yet? With the bank information it could show up anytime in his account now, so tell him to check his bank once a day and see if a deposit was made.

Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

Be sure to get a bank account, although you can get the benefits on a card, direct deposit to a bank account will serve you better in terms of bill payment, checks, etc.

Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

I have heard of people who are getting the express card , it sounds like a great alternative then using a bank. Soon social security will bot be sending checks in the mail.

Re: waiting for ssdi award letter

With direct deposit most banks will give you a free checking account. The advantage is that you are able to write checks, do online bill pay, etc. You can switch to direct deposit if you establish a bank account.

Direct Express is the BEST imo...........and will eventually phase out their check deposit system. Its easy, reliable, accepted everywhere, and costs NOTHING
