Medicare waiting period

Murphy's law it seems- i am having some new health problems which will potentially cost a lot of money. Having to pay everything out of pocket right now, have over a year to wait for Medicare. However, knowing my issues, no affordable health plan will likely accept.... i'm thinking, catastrophic health plan? Have any of you found a decent ins. plan for when you were without insurance, not sure of the best place to start

Re: Medicare waiting period

When I was in the process of my claim I went to the department of social services and applied for Medi-Cal, that is what CA residents have, and in other states it is Medicaid. I was approved , and so was my son. It paid for all my medical expenses for what I needed, and when Medicre began , they paid for the bigger stuff like hospitalization care and appoiments to spciality clinics. I did not have to wait for Medicare to kick in because my alledged date of onset went further back then I needed , so I got it right away. I still have Medi-cal and medicare and the state helps pay for my medicare premiums. My RX co pays are very little $2-$5 , ecen the one medication that is over $1000 a month.
