Decision Posted 03-29-2012!!!

Update!! I have severe anxiety and decided to call SS # today when I called the number on Monday I was told the decision was in writing well when I call today I was told the Favorable decision was entered on yesterday 03-29-2012. The one thing I did not understand was the rep stated my award letter would tell when my benefits would start and stop and the amount of benefits and any retroactive pay. Has anyone heard of a stop date? I was also advised that my first payment should arrive in about 30 days! I have a member of my support group that got his backpay 2 weeks after he changed his onset date that was last month he said they hired some moe workers in Baltimore processing center and payments are being send out quicker I sure hope so!

Congrats on the approval GAbrook. I am not sure what is meant when benefits will be stopped. As long as you remain disabled, benefits should not stop. When you reach SSNRA, SSDI converts to SSR and you get this until you die. So after approval for SSDI, it will only stop if the SSA decides that you are no longer disabled after a CDR or you reach retirement age and SSDI converts to retirement.

Thanks Blue I was unsure about this as I thought she was saying I was only approved for a certain period of time I will keep the board posted on the progress it has been a long fight!

Re: Decision Posted 03-29-2012!!!

OFC, I forgot to mention that the individual can also take himself off of SSDI by telling SSA I think I am able to do SGA now and I wanna go back to work. During the 9 month TWP, you can still keep your disabled status while you test your ability to do SGA, but most people who go on SSDI stay on SSDI. For a period of 3 years if you go back to work and your earnings fall below SGA, you can still get disability benefits. You can receive full benefits regardless of whether you make more than the SGA amount during the 9 month TWP. Also, even if you go back to work and your SSDI is stopped, the SSA gives you five years during which your benefits can be reinstated if you stop work because of reemergence of your disability. During the five-year period, the SSA will not require you to file a new disability application to get benefits. Me personally, unless a miracle happens, I intend to stay on SSDI until SSNRA unless I die before then.

Re: Decision Posted 03-29-2012!!!

I have read about the TWP and I truly wish I was able to work unfortunately it's not going to happen for me anytime soon. I actually became disabled in 02' but continued to work until 09' when it became apparent that I could no longer do the job.

Yeah, I completely understand GAbrook. I am in the same boat as yourself friend. SSDI does not allow us to live extravagant lifestyles but it does allow us to continue living when we are no longer able to continue working. Enjoy your Saturday.

Congrats GABrook -- I'm happy to hear things went well.

Looks like everyone who's been pending an outcome has had some great luck with approvals on this board!
