Life on the Social Security Disability Roller Coaster
Perhaps someone here has the same problem as I have...
I was approved for my social security disability on Jan 21, 2012 and to date have not received a letter or any money. I called yesterday and was told that my file is in the payment center and it has been pulled for "Quality Review".
Could there be some type of special handling since my date of disability goes back to 2009 ?
I am in a panic here as there are bills coming due and no funds to pay them .
Has anyone heard of the "Quality Review" process ?

Re: Life on the Social Security Disability Roller Coaster
HI,
Mscat and a few others here underwent a QR after having their claims approved. It looks like OR's are done mostly on those claims approved at levels 1 and 2 to make sure everything was done correctly and no mistakes were made. From what I understand and from what I have read on this board, OR's seldom result in fully favorable SSDI claim approvals being overturned so I would not worry too much about this internal SSA protocol. Mscat and a few others who had QR's will hopefully chime in. I was denied at the 1st two levels and approved OTR at level 3. Hang in there friend. The bill collectors don't really care about your SSDI approval and eventual backpay. They want their money like yesterday so i know how stressed out you must be about this.

Well the Roller Coaster ride has come to a end and my Social Security Disability was deposited in my account this morning.
This is a experience for sure, but when this chapter closes another one is sure to open.

Re: Life on the Social Security Disability Roller Coaster
Congrats. LostinmyWorld. Disability is a very uncertain, fearful period in our lives. I am not so much concerned about my disability. I am now trying to block the negative thoughts about getting older, getting sicker, dying, etc. My mental heath doc is trying to help me with some of this stuff but I still find myself obsessing about these future life events sometimes.
Again, congrats. my friend. Live long and prosper!

I had my. On april 11th 2012 and was approved. I know I am only a couple weeks in. But was told my application is in review for ssi. Call have to go to a nother meeting on the eighth of may. I hope it doesn't take 3 to 4 months I don't know if I can hold out that long. It has already been 2 years. Congratulations on your deposit!
I know I don't get ssi so why it would be in review for ssi I don't know.
but congratulations again the weight of the world must be off your shoulders, go get a pedicure or something to celebrate!

Almost every case is reviewed for possible SSI it is an automatic type event.

No expert here, but as I understand it, a 'quality review' is just that. There are people to review claims (both denied cases as well as approved cases) to be certain everything was done correctly on the applicants case.
This is different than those reviewed for SSI qualification. In my case, when I initially applied, (my application was done over the phone) they took both applications (SSDI & SSI) at the same time/call -- even tho I KNEW I was not eligible for SSI. The first letter I got back from them in about 14 days was that I was denied for SSI - I expected that.
So if this is a review for SSI qualification is one thing.. if this is about a quality review, thats another thing entirely.

Re: Life on the Social Security Disability Roller Coaster
thank you for the post. I received my letter today. That said the approval for the bench decision had been accepted. When I spoke to them the ssi interview is just to confirm my denial and I must go. Still waiting on other letters from ssa I am assuming everything moves slowly but was told that the 24 month waiting. Starts on my initial date of may 12th 2010 so I am assuming my insurance with start june first 2012. does anyone know if that includes for 6 month waiting period? if that is the case then insurance wouldn't start for 30 months not 24 months.
does anyone out there have any experience with the retro pay and long term disability. sorry I don't mean to hijack the post just curious.
