Tufts Health Ins.?

Does anyone here have Tufts health ins.? I am going to be moving to Cape Cod MA soon, and Tufts seemed to be the best health ins I can find.

But I do have one concern. They require you to see doctors in your PCP's 'referral circle'. This is a smaller pool of Doctors than their network doctors. From what I understand, you can't see just any doctor in their network. You must see one in their referral circle.

I'd like to know if anyone is familiar with Tufts ins, and if this referral circle is limiting and problematic.

They serve eastern MA, including Boston.

Also, If anyone knows of a good GP for CFIDS on Cape Cod, I'd love to know. I haven't found one yet.

All I know is that my daughter just got it with her new job in Quincy. She said it's unbelievably cheap if you go with one of their docs. So she gave up her own doc because if she kept her then it would be very expensive. All the best.

Re: Tufts Health Ins.?

Thank you Mare50.

As far as doctors. I'm actually not looking for one who will diagnose CFS. I've had CFS for over 30 years. I'm just looking for a PCP who believes in CFS, and who will be willing to continue the med. I have been on for years and that had been working well for me.

Re: Tufts Health Ins.?

Good luck to you finding a PCP who acknowledges CFS. Hopefully you won't have to go through too many. How about just interviewing one before you sign up with him/her? I've done that before & it worked out great. I also asked if they would refer me to any specialist who may believe in CFS. What is the med that has been helping you?

Re: Tufts Health Ins.?

I've tried interviewing Doctors in the past without much luck. I usually can't get closer to the nurse. One time the nurse swore the doctor understood CFS very well. After I saw him he told me it was all in my head and I should see a psychologist

The medications that I find most helpful are:
Midodrine for orthostatic hypotension
Klonopin to reduce the impact of too much sensory input
Valtrex --which has helped reduce my overall symptoms

Re: Tufts Health Ins.?

Thanks for letting us know about the meds and what they are for. It's always good to find out if something is working. What a pity about that doc to tell you it's in your head. His attitude is inexcusable. Don't give up though to try interviewing other docs when you feel up to it. I wish you well.
