Ssa and disability

I applied for disability in february 12 after i had surgery for cervical spondylosis with myelopathy. The syrgery stopped the paralysis but didnt fix my difficulty in walking so i use a walking aid.

I was denied in may 12 and sent my appeal in. In september 12 i learned from calling ssa that it was sent back for informal remand. What does that mean?

Finances are getting extremely tough on the family and my husband makes to much money for any type of aid. He is paying 100%my of everything and of course the kids (11&14) need everything also.

Anyone work while waiting or do i sit here and tough it out?

Re: Ssa and disability

You can't work if you want to win. Otherwise you are telling them you CAN work and you'll get denied over and over again. And they will find out. Unless you were to do something under the table.
I don't know what the informal remand means. Do you have an attorney? If so they would be able to answer that.
I know it seems tough, but it can take up to two years to get approved so you need to be prepared to buckle in for the long haul. Of course I hope it goes faster for you, but you need to be prepared for the worst. And if you don't have an attorney, I suggest you get one.

Re: Ssa and disability

IR demand suppose to mean that SSA or ODAR has sent it back to DDS to review again as it will more than likely be overturned at a hearing with ALJ. It' an opportunity to speed up the process and possibly help someone win the the case without a lawyer. It could have been the lawyer that got him that to start with.

And it also does not delay your posititon for getting in line for getting your hearing even if DDS sends it back with there Denial on it. It is definitely a positive thing especially with opportunity of not waiting for a hearing. I would definately take it as a positive.
