You can't work if you want to win. Otherwise you are telling them you CAN work and you'll get denied over and over again. And they will find out. Unless you were to do something under the table.
I don't know what the informal remand means. Do you have an attorney? If so they would be able to answer that.
I know it seems tough, but it can take up to two years to get approved so you need to be prepared to buckle in for the long haul. Of course I hope it goes faster for you, but you need to be prepared for the worst. And if you don't have an attorney, I suggest you get one.
