| This site has helped me cope with my pain and medications.
My PM&R doctor basically ran a lot of tests, then declared I am permanently
disabled and prescribed Avinza (Morphine) and Demorol. I should add that he did review my 18-20 prescriptions I had at that time.
I feel like he got to a certain point and decided he couldn't help me further, so here are your pills. Go home and take them until science catches up will your problems.
This site has enhanced my understanding of my meds tremendously. Avinza seems to be like the blind man and the elephant. Every person Avinza touches gets a slightly different perspective.
In my case I hurt really bad after 12-15 hours. Like I had no meds in me. MY PM&R doctor saw this one day, while I was at his office, and he quickly had me do a blood test. He found I had NO Avinza in my blood/body. This seemed to shock him. He initially thought a mistake had been made, then after further review told me it WAS my blood test and I really did not have any Avinza in me.
That is when I told him about this website and how many, many people say the Avinza is taken twice a day because they feel it is only a 12 hour time released medication. He was surprised and is looking into changing my meds.
Please do NOT think I am bashing Avinza. It is super. I am glad I have it.
THIS FORUM has allowed me to explain my pain situation more clearly and will hopefully result in my pain being treated better. Thank You so much.
