Any ER or Radiology nurses out here? If so, do you like your job?? Any pros or cons???? Thanks in advance for any replys. Thanks ! Upshutter

I know several nurses who work in the ER department. They are stressed out and run off their feet due to staff shortages and double shifts. I don't know how the nursing situation where you are is, but where I live there is a huge shortage, and oftentimes the nurses are forced to work what is called "mandatory overtime", or suffer the consquences of possible job loss and being charged for "abandonment".

I think the shortage is basically everywhere. In some places worse than others. I personally love working in the ER, but I am a float nurse and only work there randomly. It's always busy and exciting. But no matter what floor I work on, I run my tail off. No different.

I live in South Florida and I can tell you that there's a HUGE shortage down here, which is why I'm going to school to become one!

I too am a float nurse but don't go to the ER or other critical areas. I generally work med/surg/Clinics. I'm going into work sick tonight because they are short staffed for the evening. I negotiated though... I'm only working 4 hours and then taking 4 hours off sick.
