Which one is better depends upon what it is that you enjoy most. The pay comparison would vary from area to area. Lean toward a career that would make you happiest and give you the greatest feeling of self worth more so than for what you would earn.

What you could do is, contact your local hospital's radiology department and ask if it's possible to job shadow one of the techs. Same for a hygienist. You would have to sign a privacy form but many facilities cooperate with people on this.
