Hi! I am interested in pursuing a career as a holistic Nutritional consultant (not a clinical nutritionist) - I would love to receive some feedback from someone experienced in the field. Here are some of my questions -

*I noticed that there are not many Holistic Nutritional Consultants - why is that? If you are planning to open a practice should you be certified or have a degree in an additional field - will it make you more marketable?

* Is there a more popular area of specialization in this field, ? (e.g. pediatric, chronic illness, weight management)

*What should I look for when choosing a school? Where should it get its accredidation from? What should I stay away from? I was all set to start a correspondence school that I saw in a reputable Health magazine until I saw someone write that going to this type of school is a waste of time and money. That you don't get what you need- When I asked several doctors I got the same word of caution.

* What is the customary and ordinary fee for services for this profession?

* Do most consultants in the field work with other professionals (naturopaths, therapists, chiropractors, etc.) or is it possible to maintain an independent practice?

* What are the pros and cons of working in this profession?
