I want to become a Family Practitioner - Healthcare Professionals Message Board

Hello!
I'm 16 yrs old and since I can remember I have always wanted to become a family doctor now in gr 11 the older I get the more serious I become that I want to do this but I'm not really sure if I am missing any highschool courses the academic courses I am taking right now are

Math 11
Chemistry 11
Biology 11
English 11
Social Studies 11
Sign Language 11(now I am not really sure about this course if this will get me into university at all I go have begineers German 11 so next year I could always finish off German if it is needeed)

so those are my academic courses now the only thing I'am wondering is if I need Physics 11 &12?because I was told that last year to become A doctor you do not need physics but now I am hearing the opposite so I'am totally freaking out?

Does anyone know? I live in BC, Canada so when I do do to university it will either be here or in Sydney, Australia.

If anyone can help me out or let me know exactly what I need that would be great

I know I should talk to my school counciler about this but I really do not want to because I can tell she is really stressed out now and also A few weeks ago I went to ask her another University question and she totally brushed me off and didn't help at all!!

I do think that somewhere along the line you will need to include a physics course. Most of the pre-requisites will request Maths, Biology, Chemistry with practicals, Physics and sometimes Psychology is even asked for.

To get into medical school you will need to take a biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology at the university level. Basically to go to med school you can have any major you want, but you have to make sure that you take at least the recommended courses like the ones I mentioned above. I'm pretty sure that you only need about one of each...maybe a little more biochemistry. But anyway, you will have to take a test called the MCAT in your last year of university and that score will help determine you getting into a med school.
Just keep your grades up and you can do it.
