Looking for suggestions on my Physical Fitness

We've all heard it....for your heart and health overall benefit, it is key to get your heartrate up each day and to exercise.

I'm getting the eating healthy down but I just don't know where I'm going to fit exercising in my schedule! I have a basement with a treadmill so I can exercise.........the problem is when?

I'm looking for any suggestion. I need a routine. A routine is the only way I'll stick to something.

Here's my schedule Monday through Friday

6 a.m. wake up, get ready, get kids ready...7 a.m. head off to work.
Get out of work, pick kids up, get home around 6:30 p.m.

6:30/7p.m. - Cook Supper

8 p.m. - Get kids ready for bed.

9 p.m. - I'm wiped out...Go to bed to start day over again.

Any suggestions on when I can squeeze 1 hour consistently a day to exercise???

Re: Looking for suggestions on my Physical Fitness

Oy, I'm in a similar boat..

6:30am - wake up, get ready for work
8-4:30 - work
5:00-7:00 - barn chores
7:00 - dinner/cleanup
9:30 - bed

I'm wanting to add gym time to my schedule at least two/three times a week - but I just don't know where

Re: Looking for suggestions on my Physical Fitness

Someone suggested get up at 5:30 every morning for a 1 hour workout.

Do you think you could do it?

I just may try!

Re: Looking for suggestions on my Physical Fitness

heh, I have enough trouble getting up at 6:30. I know, I know.. you just need to get used to it.

Right now I'm working on regulating my thyroid, so until that doesn't have me completley exausted all the time 6:30 is all I can muster. I'm going to see if there's someone that I can rotate my chores with at the barn, so I can spare two nights during the week, then one day on the weekend I can go too..

Re: Looking for suggestions on my Physical Fitness

Moms are always the busiest people in the house. I find that putting exercise equipment in plain view works well for me. I figure if I can find time to watch TV, I can find time to exercise. The basement is a bad placement for the treadmill. We have our recumbant stationary bike right in front of the TV, a versa lift under the couch, and an ab swing in the hall way. So our house looks like a gym with all the exercise equipment and exercise videos....at least we are healthy. Also, there's the week-ends. My son's Sifu allows the moms to do Kung Fu along size their kids without charging extra. We go outside to play badminton, kickball, basketball, etc. with our son during the summer. During the winter we use fun exercise videos the whole family can do together. (Richard Simmons is one of them.) Sometimes I'll exercise while my son plays or draws. 20 min. here and there really add up. My mother-in-law puts in 30 min. of walking time in the morning, 20 min. at lunchtime, (She's retired.) and 30 min. at night. I've also formed a walking group where I work. We all get together and walk during our breaks instead of sitting around and talking. Exercise is hard to start, but once you start it you will find you have more energy and are tired less. Here's my schedule......

5:30AM - Get dressed and pack the lunches.
6:30AM - Wake up hubby and get son ready for school.
6:45AM - Make breakfast.
7:00AM - East breakfast.
7:15AM - Brush teeth.
7:30AM - Take son to school.
8:00AM - Start work.
10:00AM - Work break....walk.
12:00PM - Lunch break...eat and walk. (1 hour lunch)
5:00PM - Arrive home, check homework, change out of work clothes.
5:30PM - Cook supper.
6:00PM - Eat Supper.
6:30PM - Do dishes.
7:00PM - Give son a bath and talk about son's day.
7:30PM - Give son a night-time snack.
8:00PM - More homework or relax with son and draw and watch TV.
8:45PM - Get son ready for bed.
9:00PM - Put everyone to bed, except me........Now, it's time to clean the kitty litter then exercise.
10:00PM - Kitty cat's time....Hold and play with the cat and watch TV.
11:00PM - Bedtime for Bonzo. (Me) Night, night.
