excessive tea drinking? I've been having pain in my lower back that I assumed was a muscle strain. I drink multiple cups of hot tea every day. Could my back problem stem from excessive tea drinking rather than muscle strain? |
Re: excessive tea drinking? I have never heard of drinking too much tea to cause any pain anywhere. Tea is good for a person and so many different ones to drink. Be Well BeHappy2 |

Could my back problem stem from excessive tea drinking rather than muscle strain?[/QUOTE] I would say yes, it's possible. I'm not an expert on tea but I did read that it can interfere with the absorbtion of iron. Also, I know that tea usually acts as a diuretic. So if you happen to be low in certain B vitamins, or other water soluble vitamins, excessive tea drinking can "flush" these vitamins out of your body, to the point where you are somewhat depleted. I know that when doctors prescribe diuretics they usually recommend certain supplements like potassium (I'm saying potassium from memory so I hope that's correct). No matter how good something is, too much of it can be harmful. |
Re: excessive tea drinking? I certainly hope not! When a cup of tea becomes a source of pain, I give up...:) |

Re: excessive tea drinking? Hi there, I drink dare I say around 8 - 9 mugs of tea & coffee most days and I can say I have never had a back pain. Maybe try and assess if you are doing anything differently than you used to or sitting differently, it could be something simple. Failing that, it maybe worth a visit to your Docs. Good luck. Pete |
