strange hearing problem - Hearing Disorders Message Board

Hi there !

I am experiencing strange kind of tinnitus for last three years. It starts early in the morning (5-7 AM) with non-rhythmic kind of whooshing sound, sometimes fast or slow/intermitted. Strangely when I get up form the bed everything stops and never occurs during the day. So it only happens when I am supine. I had been diagnosed with vestibular neuronits five years ago after bad flu. I seen two ENT’s over that time had all the tests (MRI/CT –head and neck,ENG) also tests for Menier’s disease. Everything seems to be ok, only ENG showed 22% loss in RH ear. They said don’t have clue why I suffer now from this whooshing sensations. It’s very annoying I can’t go back to sleep, feel very tired and frustrated. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

i get this along with other symptoms, they believe i also had vn about 2 years ago, i have myoclonus, its in the middle ear and e tube, they think the virus damaged some cranial nerves.....look up myoclonus and see if it matches, it does not have to be rythmic.

I have pulsatile tinnitis. It is a wooshing that is in sync with my heartbeat/pulse. Havent identified the cause yet but I suspect it has to do with ear fluid. Is it like that?

No, it’s almost never in sync with heartbeat or pulse. What amazes me is the noise/pulsation will stop the moment I open my EYES or stand up. If I go back to to bed/sleep it will start again in 15 min. The volume also changes all the time. I will look up "myoclonus" on the net. Thanks .
