clicking sound in ear when jumping/boucing/..need advice

i've got a weird problem...when i jump, run, go down stairs, etc i get a clicking sound in my right ear. i very rarely get it when i walk so i think that it has something to do with the boucing motion. i've seen my local specialist and he says that there is nothing wrong with my ear, and worst of all, he's never heard of anything like my problem. what do you guys think? thanks

I have this exact same problem. Anyone have any ideas on this?

I hear this clicking sound when running or jumping or going up and down stairs. Doesn't seem to happen when walking.

Re: clicking sound in ear when jumping/boucing/..need advice

I too have a clicking sound in my left ear when jumping/bouncing for the past 3 months, and also lots of the time when I'm walking. I'm thinking it might have to do with my eustation tubes opening and closing, and/or the three small bones in the middle ear moving around in a funny way. This clicking started around the same time I developed ringing in my left ear following a concert, as well as jaw popping clicking on the left side and sinus pressure.

The clicking is certainly annoying, and I do hope it goes away naturally. I'm just starting to research this so hopefully I'll find an answer soon. If I do I'll let you know.

Hello

Any luck on your research? Sounds similar to my situation. I have had my problem a year. My ear feels full (all the time) and I get clicking when I walk, I sometimes get ringing but only usually in a morning.

All the Best

Rachel

I have the ringing in the ears and sometimes have clicking also. I have no idea why that happens, but mine usually goes away. Right now I have lots of fluid in my ears and I can't even hear the ringing from a cold. Very frustrating...I too would like to know what the clicking is all about..bj

Thumbs down Re: clicking sound in ear when jumping/boucing/..need advice

I too get a clicking sound in my head when I walk or run but only after I have been running. I had the clicking the past two summers when I ran all summer, and now I just started running again and am noticing that it's back. It's so strange because I haven't run since last weekend and now it has kind of stopped, but once I run again it will probably come back. I'm just starting to look for answers, but my only guess is that it's inner ear-related because I have always had trouble with my ears, starting with surgery for vents when I was 18 months. In the time between 18 months and 20 years I have had a few bad ear infections. Anyway, it would just be nice to know the reason for this clicking and to know if there's anything we can do about it. It gets annoying!

Re: clicking sound in ear when jumping/boucing/..need advice

I have had a similar problem of what may be described as ear clicking, or ear tapping, with slight occasional 'popping' in my left ear. I'm now fairly certain that it is at least partly connected by Vitamin B difficiency (probably largely Vitamin B12 related to diet). Other symptoms are tiredness, lack of energy, paleness, sore throat, memory difficulties etc.

I'd be interested to read if this strikes a chord with any other sufferers or past sufferers.

Mark

Re: clicking sound in ear when jumping/boucing/..need advice

i've got the solution!

my physio tried something which i was staggered to find...worked!

it was related to the muscles in my neck. they were very stiff and lacked side to side movement

he first started to apply pressure to the tendons/muscles, etc (it's a sort of sharp pain) and you hold it there until it eases. then repeat.

also, you have to move your head/neck to one side and hold it there for about 10-15secs to let it stretch and then repeat for the other

i have not had a single click in the last 4 months!

give it a try!
