i saw and ENT's after a cold 4 weeks ago. I have had a blocked ear..with autophony since...then i saw another ENT doc yesterday. from my symptoms he said it was PET. He said wait to see if it goes away on it's own....then try premarin nasal drops if not. I am a singer/musician and this is life altering...not to mention I have a family..etc. I am so scared and freaked. I have not read anywhere on the internet that this condition can just go away....from what I have read which has been alot...there are varying degrees of this problem. What should think? any advice please. Should I get more tests...can a doc just diagnose this by looking up the nose with a lighted tube and based on symptoms alone. Upon wakening in the morning..my ear feels normal...for 3 weeks ( then this 4rth week) The time it takes for the autophony and clog is more and more...somehow feels like just maybe it's getting a bit better...just really slow. Then other times no pattern and a lot of worry. I can't sing like this as the autophony makes it impossible. ....

I have the same problem. I am also a singer...and that has pretty much ended. I am a mom of twins with another baby on the way. The autophony drives me crazy!! This as been going on for a year now...on and off. It went away for 6 months and came back again after a severe sinus infection. Then it went away for one week after I visited a holistic Chiropractor. Then I developed another sinus infection and it came back. Grrrrr!!! I am scared that this will always be my life now. I have never had hearing issues ever before and I am 37 years old. I wish you well!! Keep me updated!
As you doctor if he will prescribe you some "deconsal II". I've had major sinus/allergy issues which had my tubes clogged for 5 months. One pill and they functioned properly again. They last for 12 hours and around the 11th hours I start to clog up again. I'm on day 3 of the pills and it's great and I can hear again.
