BAHA hearing aid - Hearing Disorders Message Board

Hi,
Are any of you out there familiar with or recipients of a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) hearing aid. It is mostly for one-sided hearing loss and I would love to talk to anybody who has one or knows somebody who has one. It has been recommended to me by my ENT, as I have 85% loss in one ear due to cochlear hydrops (a type of meniere's). This type of aid requires surgery to put a titanium screw in your skull behind the affected ear, which the aid snaps to, and sound is transmitted through bone.

A guy I know slightly from church has one and is quite satisfied with it. He doesn't get full fidelity but he does hear with it.

My Otologist suggested it, and said that they have a non-surgical simulator one can try out in the office to experience what it would be like to have it implanted.
