Siemens Versus Others - Hearing Disorders Message Board

I have been told to go with the Siemens Digital Hearing Aids as they are superior in quality to the other brands. Can I take this as a valid statement?

I would have a hard time agreeing that Seimens is a "superior" quality to all other hearing aids. There are a number of top manufacturers that make high end hearing aids. Oticon, Phonak, Widex, Starkey to name a few all make some very sophisitcated hearing aids. It depends on your hearing loss and lifestyle and price range. I am certain that you would get a wide variety of opinions from different audiologists as well as hearing aid users as to what is "the best hearing aid"..Some patients may do great with a seimens but others better with an Oticon or other brand.I would get a few opinions and be wary if somone tells you that it is superior to all others

I agree that there are many high quality hearing aids on the market (not just Siemens), but would stress that the most important choice is to find a really good audiologist to do the measurements and fitting, and recommend which aid would be best for you. Get some references, and pick someone you are comfortable with, since a large part of the cost of hearing aids is in the service and adjustments the audiologist gives to make sure that you are completely satisfied, as long as it takes.
