I sometimes hear a loud clanking noise inside my head just when I am about to fall asleep - sometimes it is a popping noise. I have had tinnitus for about a year, but this is different. I'm wondering if this is a hearing, brain or menopausal problem. I am very post menopausal. Anyone else experienced this problem?
I get this too, i thought i was going mad.it is a poink cloink definetly hard to describe.Just when i am dozing off but often get it through the day now. Sorry I dont know what it is but I am 51 yrs old also menapausal, I have fibromyalgia and Tinnitus. I dont have any answers but am really pleased I found some-one else that gets these funny noises in the head/ears. Sometims when I cant get to sleep I hear it more.

I got this too just as I fall asleep sometimes. Sounds like someone hitting a metal pipe with a wrench to me. One time it sounded like a door bell. I have other hearing issues, no idea what this one is. Doesn't bother me much.
Yep, that happens to me also as I'm falling asleep some nights. It gives you a jolt, doesn't it!! Kind of reminds me of when you're half asleep and you have a muscle spasm. I don't know what causes it, though, but I also have tinnittus, so maybe that does have something to do with it.

Myrtle, I couldn't help but laugh about the metal pipe and wrench, but you are exactly right!! It is past my bedtime. That is when I, along with everything else starts getting silly. Other than having tinnittus, I also have a profound hearing loss in both ears and wear hearing aids. I'm also menopausal. Mine doesn't really bother me either. I guess there are some things that we just learn to live with.
