Acoustic Neuroma/MRI Question - Hearing Disorders Message Board

Hi all,

OK, so I'm going to have the MRI done to check for an acoustic neuroma -- the clicking just doesn't stop. What I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere is this:

Can/should you have an MRI that is looking for a tumor while you are on steroids?

The reason I ask this is that steroids tend to shrink things and, believe me, I'm only putting myself through this MRI business once, so I wanna make sure I do it right and that they see anything and everything. MY ENT's nurse said it was okay, but ENT's are really not experts on these neuromas. I put a call in to my former neurologist, but he's away until next week. If anyone has any knowledge about this, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

I thought I could answer this, but realize I was put on steriods after the MRI showed the Acoustic Neuroma to control swelling of the brain until they could operate, which was pretty soon. The steroids certainly wouldn't shrink the Neuroma, or else they'd treat it that way. Why not just ask the MRI lab?
